Foohagh Spa Well showing iron in the water
Foohagh Well

Foohagh Spa Well , Kilkee .

You can find the well by driving out the Dunlicky Road on the Cliff Drive an take the first road on the left just after a sharp bend and you will see well on right hand side of road after about a half mile .

The Well is an abandoned chalybeate well and has a high concentration of iron as can be seen from the colour of the water . It is a tobar leighis or health well and presumably was in its heyday when the spas were operating . It is not a holy well however according to some local people statues and other relics were left to help in curing their ailment . It is one of only 18 chalybeate wells in the British Isles. It was recently restored by the Kilkee Civic Trust
